para-bilingual vispoem for Troylloyd and Karri Kokko (In English and anglosaxon)

This is a sort of bilingual poem, in that the text is written in modern English and old anglosaxon English. The words are from a very old poem called the seafarer. writing this visual poem was inspired by my freind TroyLloyds recent rorays into foreinlanguage poems and his interaction with Karri Kokko on the matter.

the 23 series

I'm now beginning a poetic series (a loose sequence) called " the 23 series". Unusually for me this project has a couple of constraints.

1. It must be made of 23 poems.

2. Each poem must consist of just 3 words.

let's see how I go.

a sound poem for Geof Huth

The note

He got it, sure thing, the message that turned his timorous ears into putty. The words didn’t mean much to him (too many q’s, too many z’s and too many p’s), but he could sense the tone of the tome. Even letters on a page that hug each other closely like lovers alone at night to form words can have a tone, a timbre, a sound. A collection of ink spots on a page that make marks mean something. But then meaning is only ever fleeting. The semantic always descends into the asemic. Lines become blotches and spots become splats. He was terrified. He couldn’t answer it. The ringing, ringing note that blotted out all hope, all light.

worbdlog

well, I now have my secondary minor blog set up and will fill it up with little ittybitty-one-word-poems. I am a really keen pwoermdist ever since coming across Geof Huth's blog( which also enlarged my knowlage of visual poetry). enjoy

the diamond diggers

Try it. Draw a line under your chair. A line creates a loose boundary between you and the floor. Don’t use chalk because chalk flakes (teacher’s dandruff pressed white like cocaine on grey felt). Use a fingernail. Press hard as you scratch the floor, cutting linoleum and making you bleed from your quick like a white flesh fountain pen. To draw, to write, to write perhaps a poem. To paraphrase, because to paraphrase is to be paranormal. Divide soil from stone and steel from sapphire. Diamonds grow underneath my kitchen, but I can’t access them without help. Stone refuses to move, blocking access for diamond miners such as you or me. I tap and scrape but flesh gives way sooner then stone. Flesh is insubstantial. Bone and meat are temporary lovers, bonded by birth and divorced through death. Such persuasive arguments stop even the most determined diamond digger.

possible secondary blog

I'm toying with the idea of setting up a second blog just for pwoermds. This may or may not happen, and if it did it would be secondary to this blog and I would focus more on this one. might be a good idea.

When It comes to technology, you have to abuse it as much as use it. You have to try and make it do what it doesn't want to as much as you can.
In my poetry I use:
An olympus DM-20 voice and music digital recorder
an HP all-in-one scanner/printer/copier/
Paint shop pro 7
adobe photoshop
audacity
supergoo
microsoft word
macromedia freehand mxa
macromedia flash
a biro and paint
I often mix several of these in a single piece.

ursonate

Here's my rendition of Kurt Schwitters famous Sonata in primordial sounds. It's a piece that all sound poets should attempt their own interpretation of. Instead of doing it in different movements as it is usually performed I did it in one long session.
